To assist in providing a prompt and efficient procedure for fair and equitable resolutions of grievances with the University without fear of prejudice or reprisal for initiating a grievance or participating in its settlement.

As defined by UM CRR 370.010.C.1. Faculty serving on this body are chosen by the Faculty Council after consultation with the Chancellor or Chancellor’s designee. A senior administrator, appointed by the Chancellor after consultation with the Faculty Council, also serves. There also exists an Oversight Committee, composed of tenured faculty appointed by Faculty Council. The chair of the Oversight Committee will be a member of Faculty Council. See CRR 370.010.C.11.
