Committee for Persons with Disabilities

Charge

Broadly, the charge to the Committee for Persons with Disabilities is to further the inclusion and recognition of people with disabilities on the MU Campus. The Committee addresses this charge in several ways. Principally, the Committee advises the Office of Accessibility and ADA and other campus leaders on the effect of MU programs, services, and policies on students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities. Through the members’ diverse networks and involvements, the Committee advises on emerging campus issues and ensures that the disability community is represented in conversations across campus. Additionally, the Committee supports disability-related events on campus, including those occurring during Disability Culture Month and the annual Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards. Lastly, the Committee advocates for financial support related to projects designed to improve the campus experience of persons with disabilities (Revised October 1, 2024)

For the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the committee will focus on:

  1. Fostering relationships with other campus communities where disability is underrepresented/under-supported.
  2. Advocating for financial support related to projects that improve the campus experience of persons with disabilities.
  3. Further developing our role in the Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards and Disability Culture Month.
