The CRR 420.010 Research Misconduct was amended November 20, 2024 eliminating the need for the Research Responsibility Committee.  This committee is deactivated January 24, 2025.

Research Responsibility Committee

Charge

The Committee shall hear charges of research dishonesty.

Regulatory Authority

Information about this committee is set forth in UM CRR 420.010 (Research Misconduct).

Membership

The committee is composed of nine faculty members who are elected by academic units. The current process is somewhat cumbersome. The Office of Research and Economic Development reports that revisions to CRR 420.010 are in progress, and the amended CRR will set forth an improved process for selecting members of this committee. Accordingly, no changes are recommended at this time.

The committee will appoint a liaison to the Faculty Affairs Committee.

Chairs

The Chancellor of the campus shall appoint from among the members of the Committee a chairperson pro tempore, who, if a meeting is necessary, shall call the first meeting of the Committee, at which time the Committee shall elect from among its members a chairperson and a secretary to serve at the pleasure of the Committee.
