The Charge of the Status of Women Committee is to advocate equity, fairness, and justice for women at the University of Missouri, investigate the status of women including faculty, staff, and students, and make policy recommendations to the Office of the Chancellor supporting the advancement of women.
Areas of focus for the 2025-2026 Academic Year will be published during the Fall 2025 semester.
For the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the committee focused on:
Jordan Hoyt Tribute to Women Award – Seek nominations, selection of award recipients, liaison with the recipients and Hoyt family to invite them to presentation of awards at the Tribute for Women banquet hosted by Department of Women’s and Gender Studies in March 2025
Campus Safety – Issues regarding the safety of women on campus including parking, healthcare, resources, and others.
Events and Awareness – Hosting and/or promoting events for women on campus to highlight the resources offered by different departments.

The membership of the Status of Women Committee is comprised of:
Co-Chairs: 1 Faculty co-chair, appointed by Faculty Council; 1 co-chair selected by committee members.
Faculty: 7 Faculty Members, appointed by Faculty Council (Standing Committee Survey), 3-year terms
Staff: 6 Staff Members appointed by the Staff Advisory Council (need not be members), 3-year terms
Undergraduate Students: 3 students appointed by the Missouri Student Association (MSA),1-year terms
Graduate/Professional Students 2 students appointed by the Graduate Professional Council (GPC, 1-year terms
Ex-Officio Member(s) appointed by the bodies they represent
