Status of Women Committee

The Charge of the Status of Women Committee is to advocate equity, fairness, and justice for women at the University of Missouri, investigate the status of women including faculty, staff, and students, and make policy recommendations to the Office of the Chancellor supporting the advancement of women.

Areas of focus for the 2026-2027 Academic Year will be published during the Fall 2026 semester.

For the 2025-2026 Academic Year, the committee focused on:

Jordan Hoyt Memorial Scholarship – The committee focused efforts on revamping the Jordan Hoyt award to a scholarship for undergraduate and graduate Mizzou students and looks forward to selecting three recipients and celebrating their achievements with Jordan’s family. 

Navigation of committee work – the group took the year to evaluate prior committees, survey findings, and committee member interests to better shape our goals and action plan moving forward.

The membership of the Status of Women Committee is comprised of:

Co-Chairs: 1 Faculty co-chair, appointed by Faculty Council; 1 co-chair selected by committee members.

Faculty: 7 Faculty Members, appointed by Faculty Council (Standing Committee Survey), 3-year terms
Staff: 6 Staff Members appointed by the Staff Advisory Council (need not be members), 3-year terms
Undergraduate Students: 3 students appointed by the Missouri Student Association (MSA),1-year terms
Graduate/Professional Students 2 students appointed by the Graduate Professional Council (GPC, 1-year terms
