Charge
The Library Committee is charged with making recommendations to university leaders concerning the continued improvement of the library collection and services. The committee addresses academic matters related to library policies and programs, ensuring that the library meets the needs of faculty, students, and staff.
Priorities for the 2025-2026 Academic Year will be posted during the Fall 2025 semester.
Priorities for the 2024-2025 Academic Year
- Fostering a culture of recognition and appreciation within the Libraries by implementing meaningful and consistent strategies that acknowledge staff contributions and enhance morale.
- Contributing to the translation of the key themes of the institutional strategic plan into actionable initiatives within the Libraries, aligning our efforts to support and advance the broader institutional goals and achievements.
- Providing feedback and insights on library initiatives, ensuring that the perspectives of faculty, staff, and students inform decision-making and contribute to the continuous improvement of library services and resources.
- Advocating for the Libraries by making recommendations to University leadership on the enhancement of library collections and services.
- Offering recommendations on academic matters related to library policies, programs, and their alignment with the University’s mission.
Membership
The membership of the Library Committee is composed of:
Chair: 1 Chair, selected by Faculty Council after consult with the committee; 1 Co-Chair selected by committee
Faculty: 8 Faculty Members, (Standing Committee Survey), 3-year terms
Staff: 1 Staff Member appointed by the Staff Advisory Council (need not be member), 3-year terms
Undergraduate Students 3 students appointed by the Missouri Student Association (MSA),1-year terms
Graduate/Professional Students 1 student appointed by the Graduate Professional Council (GPC), 1-year terms
